Vicksburg, MS Feb.12

Wow - old man river was bigger than expected.  No wonder the federalists wanted control.  Whoever controlled the river, controlled the supplies.  The battle of Vicksburg- about 90 days in total involving 70,000 union and 30,000 Rebels ended with a siege that left the rebels starving until they gave up to General Grant on 7/4/63.  The National ParkBattle of Vicksburg Museum was awesome.  Over 1300 statues or monuments., the cemetery and the Cairo ironclad 175' cannon boat that sunk only to be found in 1959 were seen on the 16 mile road tour over hilly terrain.
Mike had lobster, I had blackened salmon on sweet potato mash with caramel pecans at a local grill.
