On the way to New Orleans Tuesday

Trip to New Orleans - traveled down to NO on hiway 71 a two-lane that went by oil fields, churches and homes with porches and manufactured homes. We got into swamp country where trees were laden with hanging moss-not just on the N side. Alice (GPS) never could forgive us for not taking the interstate, and still had us taking U-turns back until we pulled her plug.

We arrived during 5PM rush because of long wait for accident on bridge, miles of highway in shallow water. We've been going down in elevation since Shreveport to 8 to 28 feet above sea level, but occasional spots below sea level.

Staying at Ponchartrain Landing RV park, along industrial canal connecting Ponchartrain Lake with Mississippi. ( I always thank my 2nd grade teacher for knowing how to spell MS)
