Thursday, Feb. 10 we started out at the Audibon Aquarium of the Americas, had lunch at Philipes, the first restaurant we saw in the French quarter, an excellent Mexican lunch spot. From there dabbled in the French quarter, the first of many visits, we hope.
People are wild about Mardi Gras here, so we bought beads, pink and green wigs (sure to be pictures later) and I hung the purple green and gold beads from the sconces in the coach. Shopcat loves them and Cassco gives Mike shit that the coach should be in the parade. We're staying in NOLA (New Orleans ,LA) through the first parade Feb.18. Can hardly wait to experience it.
Even though it was in the 30s Mike got a taste of the French Quarter with musicians on the streets, a great frozen statue ( It's a lonely job he whispered) and a tour through a cigar factory and then lighting up a smooth burn on the street. The Bog said it was twice as warm in SF. Rene & Irelished the candy making shop & Pralines - yum - we're definitely going back there in the French quarter.
Tired of walking, Mike had a Coors, Cassco a Diet Coke, Rene and I had 24 oz. frozen daiquiris in souvenir glasses with a shot chaser of Sex on the Beach. Fun spot and you can take your drink to go which lasted us all the way back to the RV park. Cassco won at dominos- imagine that!
