Cedar Key Cemetery

Mike and Shopcat walked around the campground.  I later walked to the Shiloh Cemetery down the road.  Trying to get back in the groove of 10,000 steps a day.  I did buy 1# weights in Ocala when we stopped for lunch bread.  The exercises the ladies did at the KOA encouraged them for maximum upper body benefit.  Gotta have a goal!

Grave on left is from 1896 but is covered in fresh clams.

The cemetery, est. 1896 had many graves covered with clam shells.  Cedar Key is the clam capital of the U.S.A. and many old clammers are buried here, I'm told.

Many graves were like little shrines where loved ones would come and sit a spell and bring treasures the deceased would appreciate.

This grave below right was for a 6 year old boy, Dylan, nicknamed Dilly, complete with a toy dump truck filled with succulents, horseshoe crabs and a headstone engraved with a dump truck and a boat.  Feel for their loss.

Many had a chair beside them,
This one had a stool
and a plastic chair nearby. There's
a full Busch Light waiting for the deceased.

  1. A gal staying at this RV spot searches cemeteries and posts graves and information on www.findagrave.com She was adding 15 from this Shiloh Cemetery. ALL MILITARY CEMETERIES ARE CONNECTED TO THIS.
